Ok Guys, it's a classic question but :

You're throwing a dinner party - what famous people from past or present would you invite ? Also, who's doing the music, if there is any ?

For me, I'd love to spend time with people who love life and have pushed themselves through fire to get what they want. In no particular order, Steve Vai, Sylvester Stallone, Kirk Hammett, Geoff Thompson (English writer & martial artist), Bruce Lee.. no music, just good conversation. smile.gif

Hmmm... Ivan Turgenev would be number one. If I ever had the chance, I would have loved to pick his brain. Next would be Mikael Akerfeldt. Opeth will probably always be my favourite band.

It might sound odd, but I am obsessed with insects. So I would have to have Jeff Corwin at my table.

If anyone is playing music, is either Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, or Mozart; or,If I was allowed an orchestra it would be the Moscow Symphony playing Rimsky-Korsakov's, Scheherazade.Other than that, I don't know. Maybe Yo-Yo Ma. That man is a more than exceptional Cellist. Followed closely by Joshua Bell a great violinist.

EDIT:I somehow forgot Zdzislaw Beksinski. He is my favourite artist of all time. He must certainly have a seat at my table!

I love my classical music.

Good call on Akerfeldt, Opeth are fantastic and it would be brilliant to chat with him. With the expection of the 4 first composers you mentioned, I've never heard of any of the other people you've mentioned wink.gif

Geoff Thompson would be pretty interesting, it was his book Shape Shifter that made me sort my life out and move to Ireland.

Hm...I think I can't go wrong with the GMC staff and students laugh.gif That dinner would be hilarious! In case it won't get wild enough I'd invite the guys from NoFX wink.gif

Okay...you want famous people. I recently read a lot about Bruce Lee, so he'd be on the list. Vai and Gilbert cause these guys seem so nice and open minded. Richard Branson sure has some interesting stories to tell. I'd also invite Tim Burton and Clive Barker...and Stephen King. Jamie Oliver could help me with preparing the food wink.gif

haha Steve Vai and Megan Fox seems a good election... I would add Jimi Hendrix, Slash and the Dave Grohl. I know tht all of us would end arguing for who ends the night with Megan... but Jimi will win!

Yes!! It would indeed!

I would like to invite some people from the past. I would want to invite the founding fathers of America for pizza - LOL, no for a homecooked meal. I'll be my family would enjoy learning as well as I would if my Mom didn't mind cooking for all of those men. I think they should be filled in on how bad this country has strayed from its original roots. I would just hope they wouldn't all have a heart attack right there at the table. wink.gif But I think they could teach us something to carry with us the rest of our lives. A time warp would have to be possible, obviously. But hey, if somebody has the pull to get Steve Vai to dinner, then I can have my time warp. wink.gif

Hehe think of it...we could invite whoever we wanted, but would they come? laugh.gif
