@ Monica - Gorgeous track.

Thank you so much, you are too kind smile.gif

I hope you will make a video and you will entering in competition. I liked your idea with using an E-Bow over a funk backing smile.gif

One question: it was possible to use some licks from known songs for this competition? I mean it's not properly to use our own ideas? Because if it's ok this, all of us we can change ideas and use some "Nothing else matter" or " Since I don't have you" licks and maybe will sounds great smile.gif
I put this question because it's not only my question, after I talking this morning with some GMC friends.

I really think that Miguel have an awesome take and a killer tone, but "Fly me to the moon" lick make a difference in his composition. I hope you don't mind guys and Miguel for my question but I'm just honest smile.gif I was very angry today when one of my GMC friend told me: "why to improvise, it's much simple to borrow something from a known song like him".

My take is clearly an improvisation and not a cover. I only thought of Fly me to the moon as a humorous thing. Both the backing track and my improvisation have nothing to do with "Fly me to the moon" and do not resemble it at all.

Plus, "all of us we can change ideas and use some "Nothing else matter" or " Since I don't have you" licks and maybe will sounds great smile.gif "

I didn't use any (didn't look at TABS nor Notations) licks from anyone, actually, I don't know how to play "Fly me to the moon". I heard the voice of Frank Sinatra in my head and improvised/adjusted the little "voice-line" to the backing track I chose. Just thought it would be somewhat fun/humorous.

Anyway, I had fun recording the video and this is one of the main reasons I joined GMC, the competitions and collabs are a great!

I'm glad you enjoyed my improv. Thanks! biggrin.gif

I will use in my next take the same humor that you used at 0:22-0:29 and if I listen your take very good I think also Gary visit you at 0:52- 0:56.
It's not about this competition but with this kind of humor it's hard to explain to people why it's good they improvise for all seconds from backing. You made improv for rest of backing but what people will remember: your improv or the lick borrowed?

Shame on me but I've never listened to a Gary Moore song.

Monica, what's your goal? God, I don't care about winning. I made this for fun. IMO, I think you'd be better spending your time doing something else than scrutinizing my video.

Take care.

We do not wish to limit you in any way. The challenge is the simplicity - You choose the path how to get there smile.gif
All the takes so far are very cool and creative.

It's not about my goal here. It was not need to scrutinize your video because it was evident. Trust me it's not about competition and I don't want anymore to be a part from this contest. I just want my friends to understand why it's good to improvise and never give up when somebody enter in a contest "full of humor".
I will finish this discution with you because it's not ok to fight with you on forum.

So here is my improvisation.

I don't go for the competition because i know that i'm not on that level, but i just want to try it and hear what you think about it.

The backing track is: Bending ballad from max sokolov.

Grtzz Tim

I don,t know why i can't see my video but here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DTboRnL9fU

Hey! Here is my take for this competition! I choose the backing track from "Modern Ballad Soloing lesson" by Jonathan Burgos. While I was trying to choose the backing I realize once more that there are lots of good backings and lessons in here! I really love the process which backing to choose! Thank you very much GMC!

Loved the bends and vibrato from 0:40 til the end.

Here's a youtube take on the same ebow fusion 'simple' track.

I think I actually like my original soundcloud take better.

Hey tflava, I'm using Kemper Profiler Rack and the rig I'm using is a Marshal Jmp-1 with a Mesa Stiletto (Cab). Thanks for watching. I really had lots of fun recording this one.

Thanks!
It's all the e-bow. I have the tone control way back on the guitar (neck pickup). Also there's zero drive. Amp is completely clean and no OD pedal. It's just what an ebow does.

*I thought the Sinatra reference was kinda cool. I started as a jazz guitar player and we quote all the time. The trick is to make it work musically and not sound contrived.

Thanks. I really need to start experimenting with an e-bow. It sounds really cool when used correctly!

Here's a rather longer take, length wise it's not really "less is more", but it's still work in progress:
