Todd,
Sorry, I got back too late to submit anything. A lady who was getting onto the plane fell down the steps, they called paramedics to see if they could fix her up but she had to go to hospital in the end so then, they had to find her luggage in the hold all this meant we missed our time slot. Let's hope she's ok. Cheers Phil -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Feel free to turn in a take any time you like Out of town pass is in effect. Cell phone vid is fine, just a quickie will do. Just curious to see what you do with it Todd Thanks Todd, Here's one take, total improv. It's pretty shaky at the start but I think it gets a little bit better as it goes on. Didn't have time to spend on tone I'm afraid. I tried to use more of the neck than I usually do. As usual, the ideas in my head don't make it to the fretboard If this gets a badge up can you remove on of the 'L's please Rip it apart mate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fqa8e3qOASo This post has been edited by Phil66: Oct 18 2016, 08:48 PM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. First off Phil, thanks for taking the time to go for a take and having the cahones to share it with the group! It's not easy to put yourself out there like that. Especially at the start when you are not yet sure of your abilities. Mucho Kudos!
On to the debrief!!! I like your atonal style in bits here. (p.s. not a backhanded way of saying your playing out of key) I"m assuming of course, that you chose the notes that you chose on purpose, as opposed to just sort of guessing and hoping for the best Either way, ti worked out I did notice it seemed like your fingers were almost fighting to solo in the key of A Blues/ A Pentatonic instead of E Blues/E Pentatonic and in particular E Minor which is one of the better scales to work in given the structure of the backing. It's a much more complex scale though so not alway the first one reached for. Once you get used to it though, it's a wealth of licks in one scale.î I must congratulate you on your technique here btw! You have good timing, good pick control, no extra string noise, etc. Your overall technique is MUCH improved and you are coming along nicely toward being a MONSTER PLAYER!!!! I'm happy to badge you up here One thing though, please do let me know if you were trying to play against key for itonal impact, or if you were a bit guessing and missed a few here and there? Either way, your technique is solid and your approach is good and you just.... LEVELED UP!!! Congrats!!!! Todd Thanks Todd,

Thanks todd,
I was kinda winging it with the notes. I knew I was going out of the park but it was a bit of guess work as to whether or not it would work which, obviously given my level, I don't know how it will sound until I hit it so that's why some do sound a bit too flat to my ears. It was a total imrpov after 15 minutes rehearsal after a week out so I don't think it's too bad considering everything Also with E I'm losing my "safe" box shape unless I use the open strings so i picked the two frets with the most "key" notes on and based it around those Cheers buddy. I hear ya! I was glad to see you take a stab at it Getting out of one's comfort zone is only way we grow as players IMHO, I mean really grow. So as uncomfy as it can be, I'd say go for it as often as you can! I make sure to provide the scale tablature for the scales involved, but this would assume you could look at a scale sheet and not your fingers during an improv, or memorize enough of it, to play chunks of it against the backing. One thing I'd say is try to learn the Blues and Minor Scale, just the root/primary position, so that you can play it with your eyes closed. That way you can focus on the nexus between what you are hearing(the backing) and what is going on in your head that you want to play I hope that makes sense! Todd It makes some kinda sense on some level somewhere -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Seriously, and this isn't false praise mate, if I was listening to an album by anyone, that would NOT sound out of place to my ears.
Top job, top bloke. Keep on with your journey mate This post has been edited by Phil66: Oct 22 2016, 11:00 PM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight.
