WOW! GURU! He is definitely inspiring, he should do some motivational self hypnosis tracks.
Can you imagine a boot camp with Vai, Guthrie and Satch, one intense weekend, just you and those three regardless of level. You could only come out of it a better person

That's great, thanks Gab, of course it's not just the mechanics, a major major part of it is the ear and the speed at which the ear recognises the pitch if it recognises it at all. I really struggle with my ear but it does work if I really know a piece. I remember trying to learn Always With Me Always With You and the TAB had a couple of notes that were a fret out and I noticed it right away. That's why I was going to learn the Phil Collen lesson by sliding to the notes, I thought it might instil the correct notes in my head if I learnt it off by heart that way and then progressed to bending. I didn't get around to it though, but I think I might still try it along with developing my bending technique.

With Steve Morse and Yngwie!!

Here's another interesting Vai interview, short but sweet, I think he was doing a few at a guitar convention in the UK, seems like the interviewers got around 10-15 minutes with him. He doesn't seem very interested in the beginning but Justin asks some good questions

I have tried visualisation in the past but I can never get an image, I always thought you were supposed to be able to see and image like a dream when you use "The mind's eye" but I can' get anything, just darkness
