Johnston's tone is based on a smooth overdrive with a lot of sustain: the combination of a compressor and an overdrive pedal is one of the keys to recreate that tone.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't tried TH-U, but I like the tone and I'm also a big fan of Nick Johnson's tone.

Did you add this to the THU preset archive? I think it would make a great addition!

It's worth a try. You can grab the demo of the full version for 30 days I think. The starter version is a good way to get started on thu also. I love how it lets you build your own signal chain using visual representations of the actual gear. and you can build two signal paths if you want, in the same patch..
