  • Welcome to my lesson in the style of the awesome Andy LaRocque!

Andy has been the main guitarist and co songwriter with King Diamond, playing on every King Diamond album since 'Fatal Portrait', released in 1986.

Andy's playing is characterised by wide, strong vibrato, super fast picking runs, lots of harmonised string bends and whammy bar pyrotechnics.

For anyone new to Andy's playing, I would recommend them to check out the following King Diamond albums: 'Them', 'Abigail' 'Conspiracy' & 'The Eye'. These have some of my favourite KD songs and favourite Andy solos.

    This lesson will work on:

    - Alternate picking
    - Palm muting
    - Whammy bar scoops
    - String bending

I would definitely say that Andy is one of the most exciting guitar players to have emerged from the 80's metal scene, not to mention a brilliant riff writer as well and it was an absolute pleasure to try and emulate him. If you pick up your guitar to learn this lesson, I'm sure you'll feel the same way too!

    Enjoy!
