Welcome to the "Country Pick and Strum Rhythm: Level 1" lesson. In this lesson I introduce the fundamentals of this classic country technique. While I am playing this on the Tele-style guitar it would also be common to play this type of pattern on an acoustic. In this lesson I am using the middle pickup selection (neck and bridge pickups). While the bridge pickup with a common choice in country music, if I will be using the same guitar for both rhythm and lead tracks I like to change the flavor just a bit between the two. I find the middle pickup selection to be just enough of a change to add some tonal contrast.
Key: A
Chords: A, D, E
Time Signature: 4/4
BPM: 80
Gear: Tele (middle selection)>Wampler Ego Compressor>Tascam 4X4HR>Pro Tools>AmpliTube 5>American Amp 1 w/spring reverb
Scales: While there are no scales used in this lesson we will eventually add some note lines between the chords. For jamming purposes I would start with an A Pentatonic Major scale.
