Images and Words is my favourite album, along with their latest Black Clouds & Silver Linings! Beautifully played, and it's amazing to see GMC getting so many "popular song" lessons! Great work, Zsolt!
Thank you! Well, now you have an opportunity to learn it
and yes the lick at 0:22 is great stuff always wondered how he did it. Thx for doing this.
Zsolt great performance. Awesome solo. My favourite DT number.
Great to watch you play it. It brings my cd a bit more alive
Thank you, Kris! This is my favorite solo as well!
Probably my favorite Petrucci solo - the run at 0:22 and the licks that follow are amazing! Well done Zsolt!
Hi GMC'ers! John Petrucci is one of the most influential guitarists today. He has a very sophisticated technique, and is considered one of the best Progressive Rock guitarist out there.
"Images and Words" is Dream Theater's second album, the first one introducing James Labrie on vocals. "Another Day" is the second track on the album, and is one of the nicest ballads ever written by Dream Theater.
Technique wise this solo is difficult. While the first part of the solo seems very easy to play, the trouble starts with the ultra fast picking lick. A full staccato, two octave lick that is very hard to play in the required tempo. If you practiced my "Modal Madness" series however, you should not encounter as many problems.
Techniques:
* Phrasing
* Vibratos
* Hammer-ons
* Pull-offs
* Staccato/Alternate Picking
* Slides
* Bening
Tuning:
* Standard D
* D - G - C - F - A - D
(From thick to thin string)
*One Whole Step Down
