Hi GMC friends! Here I am again, this time with a metal lesson all the way. It's about riffing with ninths and assembling several parts with twin guitars.
I made this song a while ago and wanted to make a lesson out of it because I think it has lots of useful stuff for you, mainly for the metalheads but with elements that EVERYONE can take advantage of!!
It's important that the ninth chords are always played with the first stroke down and the rest up. This way you can play faster and more fluently. It's something that has always worked for me and I always recommend.
I hope this exercise will expand your riffing horizons so that you avoid playing with tonic and fifth all the time, which I find boring, worn-out and colourless. As opposed, when using more open chords you achieve a more interesting colour. I think it's very cool to explore this style to enrich your way of playing/composing.
