  • Hi GMC!

The "Open String Pull-Off Riff" lesson covers a modern country style open string pull-off riff complete with double-stop hammer-ons/pull-offs, natural harmonics, and behind the nut bends. This piece was inspired by the hot country playing of Brad Paisley, Brent Mason, and Jim Campilongo.

This lesson includes the following techniques:

    Country-style hybrid picking
    Double-stops
    Slides
    Natural Harmonics
    Behind the Nut Bends
    Hammer-ons
    Pull-offs

    Key: A

    Chords: A, D, E

    Tempo: 110bpm

    Scales:

A Bluesy Pentatonic - The riff is based off of this scale. You can also use it to solo over the A chord. Also, try raising the 3rd to give it a major feel.

D Bluesy Pentatonic - Use this scale when you play over the D chord. You can also raise the 3rd to give it a major feel. Bluesy Pentatonic - Use this scale when we play over the A chord. You can also raise the 3rd to give it a major feel.

E Mixolydian - Use this when playing over E. This is basically an E Major scale with a lowered 7, C note.
