  • Hello GMC and welcome to my Chord melody in C minor style lesson.

In this lesson we are going to cover 3 really important and cool techniques for rhythm guitar:

    1) Closed voicing
    2) Open voicing
    3) Inversions of chords

This lesson has all these things and on top of that you get to practice your finger style.

The key of this short piece is C natural minor. However, there are some passing chords and modal harmony applied trough out the piece. Feel free to have a go at soloing over this as well but only after you have captured chords and played it in time!

The rhythm in this piece is mostly half notes! This can remind you of some classical type rhythm. There are couple of parts when rhythm changes but that was done only to brake out of the same pattern trough out.

Study closely how both bass, middle and top melody move. This is known as counterpoint and we will tackle this topic in some future lessons!

Finally, use the guitar pro, chord graphs as well as backing tracks and videos to play this nice piece and try creating something of your own using those techniques.

    This lesson uses:

    - Finger picking
    - Constant rhythm
    - Counterpoint
    - Closed voicing
    - Open voicing
    - Inversions of the chords etc

I recorded this lesson using my custom built guitar going trough POD X3 live using Thread plate clean patch.

I hope you found this lesson useful and I look forward hearing your takes on it!
