  • Hi there and welcome to Canon Rag. :) I made the ragtime arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon in D. Hope you like it. :)

First a few words about ragtime. Ragtime is a musical genre that was mostly in use at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, and it was the first real American music genre. It has predominant bass and chords patterns on odd and even beats and a syncopated melody, which is accented between the metric beats. One of the greatest ragtime composers and pianists was Scott Joplin (Maple Leaf Rag, The Entertainer).

Every journey starts with a first step, and I remember when I faced ragtime for the first time many years ago, my reaction was "I cannot do that". But it sounded so strange and intoxicated that I had to try, and slowly I "caught the swing". So if you like it as well, give it a try, I'll help you as much as I can.

    Tuning: Dropped D
    Key signature: D Major
    Time signature: 4/4
    Tempo: 100 bpm

    Have fun! :)

    Cheers

    Dejan
