Introduction

Hi guys and welcome to my second SI lesson here at GMC!

My name is Christian, I'm from Germany and I'm 29 years old.
This time I decided to make a lesson on one of the most influential bands of the Sixties: The Shadows. My father played in a Shadows tribute band for many years, so I basically grew up with this kind of music. I also inherited a Fender Stratocaster from him that I don't play often enough...

I'm sure some of you don't know this great english band, but maybe you've heard their greatest hit "Apache". They even took part in the Eurovision song contest in 1975 and finished second! They actually started out as Cliff Richard's background band.
The lead guitar player Hank B. Marvin has a unique sound. He is famous for using a Fender Stratocaster (and rumor has it that he was the first european to own one).

To reproduce his tone I suggest you use a clean sound with lots of reverb, you can also add a little tremolo. Switch your neck pickup on, and you're all set! Hank Marvin is also famous for the soft use of the whammy bar, but we won't cover that in this lesson...
Basically, this little tune is based on the Am pentatonic. I composed it as a gift for my girlfriend for 9th anniversary, but I thought I'd share it with you. I'm looking forward to your feedback!
