The Steve Vai lead patch is always a good place to start smile.gif Also glad to hear you are not digging past the string threshold as much. Sometimes, a heavy hand is called for in a given lick. Often, a lighter touch works great and prevents the pick strikes from getting in the way of the upcoming notes. Being able to do both is a very good thing imho!

Thanks Todd,

I didn't build it from scratch, it's a modified "For The Love Of God" patch I picked up. I've used it a lot and with that guitar, it's my go to ballad patch so if you've noticed tonal improvements, I'm happy smile.gif I took on board some of your comments in QuickLicks about me digging in. I'm trying to pick much lighter now, not for everything but in the main, could this be part of it?

Cheers

Phil

I Like the vocals too! Maybe during the vocal section the lead bits might benefit from some extra ballad fx (delay/reverb) etc. just to sit them back a bit in the mix and feature the vocal and let the lead bits be more of a texture?

It sounds like me and one other person (just guessing) are sharing the last lead. We sort of split the middle as there isn't a good place to cut in and out of my solo. I realize this on listening to it. There are not gaps to do a call and response with the other player. No good place to make the cut really as mine builds to the end but has to be cut at some point or there will be no room for the other player. Putting these together has got to be a serious challenge.

Thanks Todd,

I've always had issues with fret buzz and I think it must have been that I was digging too be, maybe even pulling the string away from the fretboard at times (harpsichord style).

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback Todd!! Yeah, I have to experiment more with the part that combine vox and lead guitar. Adding more reverb/delay can be a good way to solve it.

Regarding the last solos (your solo combined with Onetabmat). Do you like how both are connected? Or do you prefer to keep both solos complete?

First half as an arrangement and second part as a solo. Great job Phil!

My solo sort of builds to a climax as it's written as a piece of music rather than distinct licks. But whatever works for the song as a whole is what you should do. The solos are really in service to the song itself.
