Absolutely! The lens in a real camera is far better than the ones in webcams since they have a bigger lens and can let more light in.....
You can get a decent cam today for about 200€, maybe even cheaper.....

Digital Cameras are insanely good these days. It used to be the case where the video was very poor but in the last few years they have really improved it heavily and it is certainly a viable option for recording guitar videos on a budget I'd say.

But also it's half down to the room as well. If you have good backdrop and lighting it adds lots to the quality even with a not so great camera.

You could get relatively cheap Sony MiniDV camcorder these days. Just make sure it has firewire output/input and that you have firewire on your PC. Then you have the option of recording on a miniDV tape and then streaming video to capture it on PC via firewire. (or you can stream live from the cam via firewire and record like you did with webcam).

I think it will work very well with USB2 as well, with regular cams.... HD cams are another story.....

Check the specs on the camera you're interested in. Many still cameras that also shoot video record at 15 fps. It's a little jerky.

I would recommend good miniDV camcoder with Firewire, not a photo camera.
