Hey guys

i think im having problems with my AMP not sure if it is my AMP , my POD or my cables

while i play sometimes the volume decreases
i crank up the volume on my POD the volume goes normal again
after 2 minutes the volume decreases again

i dont hear any static or mal connection noise and that makes me belive that its not the cables

i don think its my POD because i use it in Studio with no problems

AMP type: Marshall Valve State 100

POD XT LIVE

cables: Planet Waves

please help me smile.gif

thx for your time

Hi mate, I had that amp, back in days, and I got the same problems...let me explain

the valvestate series has a tube pre and a transistor power amp

when you experience this kind of volume loss, 100% is the pre tube, not working or got worn.

a new 12AX7 pre tube (or ECC83 if you live in Europe), is what you need to solve the problem... cheap and easy replace around 15$$$ and your amp will shine like new biggrin.gif

Also you can swap it by yourself, simply pull out the old one and push in the new one

WARNING

DON'T service the amp when turned on, remember to remove the main AC

Take care

Joe Kataldo

Does volume gets back to normal the second you adjust the volume on POD ?

yeah, do what joe says or you will probably definately die if you leave the amp plugged in.

I totally agree with Joe...I still remember his Marshall. We both had a Laney Tube fusion too, and the laney too had the same problem, but with the new tube the Laney come to life again! I still don't know why some amp brands says that tube preamp can live for ever...bah...I don't think it's true at all.

Preamp valve is what needs replacing, no worries. Just buy another preamp valve, I recommend ECC83 as well for Marshall. Cheers smile.gif

If you are in Europe search here http://www.tube-town.net/index.html

If you are in the US http://www.dougstubes.com

I'll suggest you the JJ ECC803S, a long plate version of the old Tesla tube. It has a very round and thick tone.

Marshall amps are to brite for my ears and I prefer darker tubes, otherwise go for the same tube you have in it.

Joe is right, I had the same problem with my old Marshall, it was a dying tube.
