hello GMC what is your own definition of music and what makes you feel good when playing/listening to music

I think that music is a reflection of self and should be used to express emotion and life, not just fame and i feel that some do it for that stuff and other are truly for the music. the thing that makes me feel good is when i am playing with my cousin and we are jamming together. i also feel good when i can relate to the lyrics in a song

Technically:
An art that uses the sound, rhythms, and melodies of various instruments to convey ideas and emotion.

Personally:
Any sound scape produced that I find enjoyable to listen to.

But then again, I think I could much better define music if I had a guitar with me smile.gif

I listen to pretty much everything, Any genre of Metal, Blues, Classical, Jazz, all the way to bluegrass and opera. So as long as there is something that can speak to me on some level, whether it be with the music, lyrics, or both - I find it enjoyable.

I agree with The Uncreator. Music is not really what you consider music to be.

This is hard question. But I like how music becomes eternal when recorded and also how it plays with our emotions. Its amazing how you can touch millions of people (and change, influence their emotions) with a good song.

That's an easy one...

Music is a complex organizations of sounds that is set down by the composer, incorrectly interpreted by the conductor or transcribe, which is then ignored by the musicians, the result of which the audience is to dumb to realise that it is totally wrong and cheers! We just created 'Thrash Metal' and 'Rock and Roll' baby!

Why else would vibrato be used by singers to hide the fact that they are on the wrong pitch. Yet it sounds great on the guitar!

what a question!

Music predates mankind. Birds make music. So I guess it's the universe expressing itself through sound.

But as to what is it....I guess there has to be some type of rhythm to it, otherwise it's just sound

I think it's ok to question it but in the end there's no point in defining it, it's like defining God, you can't do that and there's no point to it.

Here's mine

Music is made of noises or notes that are thougtfully arranged to form a whole so that a listener can get something out of it. He may feel emotions, pain ... anything and eventually enjoy it or not ..... huh.gif

Hope that makes sense smile.gif

You take your words back right now, or I..!
Just kidding. ;}

I think that music is the perfect way to express your feelings and thoughts, and is something more than just a couple of right notes played in the correct rhythm. smile.gif

It's definitely not something that is easy to explain. Music is what we experience from 20Hz-20KHz, but put together in a form/structure that can stimulate us in various ways. Perhaps the visualization can also be called "visual music" if it is the art of combining colors and patterns in a way that will stimulate us. Music, music.. very interesting smile.gif
