Welcome to GMC pmanic123!
It is really interesting to hear that your main teaching tool was the game Rocksmith. We have discussed that game a few times here in the forum, I think many will be interested to hear your first hand impressions. I've never played it but watched videos on youtube of it and the whole concept is really cool and way better than Guitar Hero which I consider a great and inspiring game as well. Which techniques or songs are you working on at the moment? Beginner Solo in D sounds like a great venture into lead playing, have you been playing/practicing lead stuff much till now? You mentioned that you are looking to get good enough to cover songs you like and that is an approach which I personally prefer when it comes to guitar and practicing. You could pick a song and we could help you figure out which techniques, aspects of playing you need to work on to be able to play it. This way you only develop skills which you'll be using immediately to have fun. I'm commenting about this as I think one can easily get lost practicing stuff he'd never actually use and then get bored with it (I know I did this so many times hehe). See you around the forum, Fellow tech freak here as well -Bogdan -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

Hi mate! Welcome to GMC!
That's a very cool intro and I have to say that the lesson that attracted you here is an excellent first goal as a guitarist. That lesson includes many techniques on a simple and nice to hear solo so it's a perfect plan to work on it. As you will notice that there are some techniques there that you are not used with, it's ok, to combine it with some more technical stuff that helps you to learn the basics of these techniques: - alternate picking - legato - vibrato - bending - tapping - sweep picking I recommend you to explore our beginners series to get into these techniques and create a plan that keep you practicing every day on different topics. If you need help with it, just let me know! -------------------- My lessons
