Check out Sinisa's amazing new lesson, "Chorus Lead", and then post a reply to today's topic.
How fast can you play 16th notes on one string (one fret only)? (tremolo picking in other other words) This post has been edited by Kristofer Dahl: Feb 13 2011, 12:56 PM
Reason for edit: added tremolo

With my hands? Yes - hand and pick! (If you you can reach impressive guitar speeds with any other part of your body - I'd love to hear about it as well though! ) |

It's too bad he doesn't actually play anything. Picking at that speed is one, playing at that speed is something else. Of course, as has been said often, speed for it's own sake is pointless. As far as guys actually playing crazy fast, the paul gilbert solo from the Racer X live album still stands out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F48VXmPm_Y Here is a vid of him all the way back in 1987 doing bits from the same solo (actually has vid) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-_Wm8T1iMc...feature=related Here is plays a live solo with no distortion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-_Wm8T1iMc...feature=related That guy doing the bumble bee thing for the Guiness book was pretty impressive but he was playing the same thing every time. My very first youtube lesson ever was mostly about speed. It was horrible quality and a bad recording but it's still my highest viewed video to date. Go figure? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6y7xuDladk |

Big fan of Paul, and what I heard there was sickening. Mind-blowing technique. Cheers for the inspiration, Todd.
