Hey there, maybe some of you know a situation like this:

Preparing food. A roast in the oven. I took the roast with the pan it was cooking in out of the stove and put it onto one of the hotplates. It came out of the 200 ° Celsius oven, keep that in mind for a second smile.gif
Then i noticed the water for the noodles was cooking and i pured the noodles into the water.
And then i became suddenly very stupid. I noticed the pan with the roast wasnt centered on the hotplate so i gripped one of the metal handles with thumb and index finger of my right hand. I took me a second to notice that it was reaaaaaaly hot smile.gif Remember the 200 ° Celsius? smile.gif I immediately cooled it under running cold water. Damm, that hurt.

But i was lucky enough to immediately cool it, so i dont get some burn blisters or else. The only thing that is visible is a 5 Milimeter broad trace on my thumb and indexfinger where my fingerprint is almost gone 0o it looks like it has been ironed...

And my first thought was: "F... how will i hold a pick with blisters on my thumb and index finger????"

It is so stupid smile.gif It was just a few seconds and i complete forgot this thing is HOT!!!! smile.gif

Ever did something similar?

Oh and just in this moment i thought it might be helpful to burn my left hand index finger, would give me a great oppurtunity to train the other fingers wink.gif

yes. you have to be careful with your fingers. also when working with tools. Things that were annoying before one played guitar (such as slicing part of one's fingertip) become much worse, because you can't play. Before I started guitar I did that with my finger before I started guitar, surprisingly it grew back. You can also cause some nerve damage, which might be temporary.

This happens to all of us. Good thing you didn't get blisters from the burns... I'm generally always careful with my hands as I have some fobia of injury what can hinder my playing (and I need to be able to play all the time) smile.gif I would often skip some possibly hazardous sports/activities because of it smile.gif

Soldering irons are bad things smile.gif i soldered a small piece of flesh out of my finger, was 2 by 2 millimeters and also 2 millimerters deep

Looked a little bit scary smile.gif And hurts like hell...

Worst burn injury i ever had was when i was around 13... Got a full cup of boiling water over my left arm. The blister was almost 20 cm in diameter...

Not to heist this into a cooking thread, but after the first time I leaned to cut foods in a manner that I think is totally safe. Have a sharp knife, make a light slicing cut first, just to break the surface, and then go from there tho the full cut. You can do this nearly as fast as cutting in a risky manner.

You really have to protect your hands if you play. I know one professional who had a successful band in the 80's who drove a screwdriver thorough his hand, could not play for a year. Gloves are your best friend if you are a fix it guy. I would have sliced through my hand badly early this year, putting on new guttering, had I not been wearing heavy gloves. It does not hurt to have a thread like this, to just remind us all of this kind of thing, to keep in in the front of our minds. Like I am putting in my Sister's dishwasher tomorrow, and going to go get my gloves right now so I don't forget them. Any of you who have worked with sheet metal know what I am talking about.

I once cut my finger with a knife trying to take off a plastic from a bottle of water, the big ones,

that was a long time ago but I almost cut through the whole finger,

still got the scar to remind me of stupidity which I can also call "thinking too much"

A true player should put his fingers on a hot metal and hold it 10 minutes every morning for warming up and strengthening. laugh.gif

So I was hunting for the fingernail clippers and couldn't find them, so I opted for some scissors - then I remembered this thread and put them away. Thank you for being there for me. biggrin.gif

When I was a kid, I was really stupid once:

Left my house on socks (no shoes therefore) to go to the neighbors quickly, closed the heavy outside door, but forgot my foot was still on the threshold (iron). Looked down, couldn't move, opened the door again, walked to the neighbors and said: I feel something funny in my socks (thick socks). So I took them off, and a lot (I mean, a lot) of blood came out... One of my toes was almost cut off completely... I remember we used a couple of Donald Duck magazines to prevent the blood from hitting the carpet biggrin.gif

Well, how's that for being stupid... smile.gif
