Hey Folks,
I just noticed today's 2nd May and I saw thats my joining date on my signature. What a coincidence! Its been freaking 2 years here already. I started my 1st year thread here, if you guys are interested to read. Anyway, I just wanted to let GMC members and admins know that this site is one of the best out there. It has tonnes of guitar lessons and most importantly the ever so interacting community. I came here 2 years ago, after I was tired of playing at slow tempos and unable to even play easiest of songs. I was looking for free guitar lessons then and found GMC. I came as a total noob even though I had an 'experience' of 15 years playing guitar on/off. I was too old to be learning this stuff again but I was determined that I WILL learn despite the age. I mean all the instructors here are younger than me, at my age most of the guitarists actually are masters. I have really grown a lot as a guitarist. The most important thing I improved on is my playing. I can play pretty fast now and it definitely has matured. I didn't know much about guitar theory or guitar parts, I know most of them now. Its been a pretty tough journey these 2 years. I struggled so much trying to do a level 3 lesson back then. I remember I turned on my camcorder 1 hour straight, then rewind and another hour straight to get one good 40 sec take but failing despite having practiced a lesson for 2-3 weeks. Yes, its true, I sucked that much and I never recorded as well. As you might have seen, I have played level 10 lesson some time ago. YEP GUYS! Its all possible. Thanks to all GMC staff, instructors and members for all the encouragement and feedback that made this possible. And as Vai said, you just have to believe in yourself. For anybody who is interested, you can check my REC takes here and YouTube channel here. I am working on other lessons as well which I will probably post later as I master them. Extreme Neoclassical being one of them. Yeah, I know few people are looking forward to that take.. hehe. Heres my try at 140bpm for anyone who has missed. Right now, I have transcribed Until We Say Goodbye by Satriani all by ear/eyes myself (after failing to find good tabbed versions) and will be recording it soon. I am happy that I can do such a thing now. Alright, long talk. Thanks for reading and see ya in the forums!! |
