How do you make a Mp3 of yourself playing? I really want to record music but I have no clue how.

If you know how to record yourself in any of the recording programs such as Reaper, Cubase, Sonar... then it's very easy. Just export the track as mp3 and there you have it. If not then you might want to start getting into the world of recording and sound engineering. Once you learn the basics you will be infected by the virus called "I will never stop doing this" smile.gif That's what usualy happens to people that start with recording. You get milions of composing and arranging ideas and it's a real fun doing it.

YEAH i agree with Emir 100%..unless you have access to a real studio, D.A.W. is definitely the way to go, you can produce amazing quality CD,s with these programs once you get the hang of them.

You will need a recording interface (like Pod Studio GX) and a recording software (like Reaper,Cubase).
Then you just need to hook up your guitar to the interface, setup a project in Reaper (load backing track) and record your guitar tracks in the software. Once you finish your recording you export the files in desired format (.wav, .mp3) and there you go. It doesn't take a lot in order to be able to make good recordings. You can alternativly hook up a multieffects unit if you have one to the line input of your sound card and record that way too.

I have a Line 6 POD GX but I have no clue where to go from after that. I'm not sure where to get any of that software either.

Go and download REAPER. It's free for 30 days. Find some tutorials on internet how to use it and I am sure that you can get your first recordings done within 2 days.

it'd be a good idea to buy a sound card for your pc if you don't have it already, They usually come with audio recording software.

check M-audio or Presonus
