I am a Schecter guitar fan, they are affordable yet of good quality (at least in my opinion;) )

That's real bad news mate, I hate it when things like that happen to anyone .
If you see a guitar that you really like but it has a whammy on it you can always go for one of THESE. There is always the old two blocks of wood method but at least this gives you three quick options. I have one fitted to a guitar that has a Schaller floating trem and the knife edges are worn out. It's just like a fixed bridge. You don't get as much sustain but it's not a deal breaker. You can get some good deals on guitars with floating trems now as they are losing a little bit of popularity due to all the drop tuning being done at the moment.
