I was bought a Les Paul kit by my dad before he passed away last year.

I was going to build it myself; I was also thinking about buying a new guitar so deceided to put both together and get it done by a local luither.

Here are a couple of pics I took on my phone.

I'll be getting it aged both the case and guitar some time in the future....

I don't get it...
Is this a real Gibson or a fake building kit that looks like a Gibson?

Anyways it looks great! Don't get it aged! After 10 gigs or so the Case will look horrible enough and a Gibson guitar with nitrofinish wears off fast enough. It is so much cooler for your guitar to get scarred and worn over the years by your own playing then fake it to look like it was intensely played...

Yeah its a kit, its a 2 piece mahogany back, flamed maple cap. glued neck.

Its based on a 58. The Luthier had the drawings of a 58 and the only difference he could find was 2mm larger gap between the volume and tone pot... everything else was bag on.

We got everything as close as possible, the bridge has a bit of wire going over the saddles like the vintage ones, vintage pots, even all the wiring inside was braided wire with bumblebee capaciters. We based the paint job on cherry bursts from the late 58's, the red they used then reacted to UV rays and faded leaving only a darker brown burst.

heres some more pics I took outside which are better.

Glad you like the case, its a nice finishing touch. The aging Joe does is very subtle, just takes off the bling and gives it a loved but worn look. Not decieded yet, I have to wait 3-6months anyway...

That's a very nice Les Paul man! dry.gif

I agree with the others about aging it though. But I guess that's a matter of personal taste. It sounds like this guitar is sort of for the memory of your dad. My father died last fall and he left me his WWII Army issued Colt .45. I'm prpbably never going to shoot it but i'll keep it forever. You should keep the Les Paul too.
