Ive been playing for about 22 yrs. i took a break for about 3 yrs when my son was born and my job took me away from it in awhile
My favorite guitarists are jimmy page, david gilmour, tom petty/mike campbell, peter buck, ac/dc, rush et. classic rock. also country eric church, brad paisley, kenny chesney, chet adkins. i love watching tommy emmanuel.
my goals are to be able to entertain myself and my family. i would love to join a band or play in some jam sessions. my ultimate goal is to be able to play what i hear in my head.
i want people to say 'wow' hes good and to be able to play songs for my family. in 5 yrs i expect to be able to improvise solos and write rhythym progressions that can become songs. my best friend is on the east coast, me west so i want to send music back and forth to write songs and share ideas
i playing in my ships band (Navy) we played four songs in the talent show in front of about 100 people. it went well enough and i really enjoyed it.
i think i am strong in rhythym and being able to play almost anything simple. i struggle when i want to solo over stuff i write and how to make the rhythym better. i want to understand what scales to use and when. I struggle with technique advance stuff like fast licks and bends... i suck at bending. i am better at legato and flat picking. i am ok at fingerstyle
Theory- i know major scale, minor penta and some major penta. i can write progressions. i can solo really simple stuff. i undstand keys and circle of fifths,
i can record video and audio. i use garageband mostly.
i will put some recordings here for you to see and hear. i will upload some when i get home from work today.

thanks again i look forward to working with you!

Hi friend! Thanks for your videos!

I think that it would be good to divide your guitar sessions into 3 blocks:

- Technique Practice (Rhythm & Solo)

- Theory

- Improvisation / Composition

We need to fill this topics with some GMC stuff. What lessons are you working or you'd like to work? Do you have any ones in mind?

I like the pick and strum country rhythm, muted strings rhythm guitar, open chords rock rhythm, pentatonic workshop, jumping around beginner, improving workshop, finger independence, right hand basics, country picking

I am open for anything else that may help. Do you recommend anything specific for warmup or stretching?

Just one more question , is there a thread you recommend for help recording video. Thanks again.

Yes. Sounds good. Should I submit recordings to you or will you see it if I submit to the REC thread?

It's even better if you submit recording to REC so you get my feedback, but also comments from other instructors.

Thanks for the feedback. For some reason the sound was broken up after I uploaded but I am having trouble getting the correct tone for the lesson. The bending is bad I know I’ll work on the technique and find a lesson to help. Not sure about inotation but I’ll look up some stuff for that too. Thanks Gabe!

Hi Shane, feel free to share a new take with the sound issue fixed. The intonation thing can be related to that. I'd like to check a better sound take.

Hi Gabriel! Thanks for the advice. I am having some tuning issues with my Ricky. I think I will get some new strings ASAP and recheck the intonation. After I’ll try on other take just to see if that fixes it. I wanted to ask you about the ending of that lesson. What is the technique you use for the harmonic sound. I wasn’t able to replicate it. But it sounds great!

I am still working on the pick and strum country lesson. I was stuck so I wanted to try something new. But I hope to post a new take soon. I am also unable to complete the pentatonic lesson. The last set of notes, the hardest to play is giving me trouble trouble. I don’t feel that I am fast enough but maybe there’s something else I can do to work on the speed. I was hoping to add some more or new lessons. I have seen a lot of improvement while I noodle or improv. Also my technique is improving and my ability to make a good tone is getting better too. Still practicing everyday. Thanks!!.

Hi Shane! Nice to see you with this great energy! Yeah, I've noted those tuning issues. If your string are too old, I would start by changing them. If the problems continues, you should ask a professional to set up your guitar.

That harmonic is usually called "Pinch harmonic". Here you have a lesson that covers this technique:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...inch-harmonics/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Pinch-...monics-Workout/

Please share a video playing that fast part that is giving you issues so I can suggest any tip or exercise.
