Awesome lesson and great explanations Kris!!! I also love the hybrid picking because as you said it truly gives more tonal and dynamic options. That sound obtained with the finger never can be achieved with a pick. But...I must recognize that when I started to learn this technique, I had the feeling that would be much easier if I will play with my foot Now it became one of my favorite techniques and I feel this so natural that I have moments when I'm using it without even realize.
