  • Welcome to my new lesson!

This is a seriously fast shred session for the bravest guitarists among you!

I've designed the picking runs so that they work best for those of you who favour outside picking when crossing strings. What does this mean? Imagine you're ascending during a run and the last pick stroke you play before moving to the next string above is a down stroke. The next stroke will be an upstroke. This motion means the pick travels from the furthest edge of one string to the furthest edge of the other string. So the pick travels 'outside' the strings. This means the pick is less likely to get caught and accidentally play a string twice during the travel.

If you fancy turning this into more of a challenge for inside picking then by beginning the picking runs on the exact opposite stroke you will change the feel of the string crossing motion.

    This lesson will work on:

    -Alternate picking (surprise!)
    -stamina (both hands)
-Knowledge of how string crossing can be affected by what stroke we play before
-Power to take over the world

There's even a couple of naughty sweep arpeggios in there too for you dedicated shredders out there. So, if you're willing to get your butt kicked for a while then pick up that guitar and prepare to go to work!
