  • Hi GMC and welcome to my blues phrasing lesson! Today's lesson is based on the "Daddy blues" theme - the song that I wrote when my son was born. The song has a swing rhythm and it sounds a little jazzy.

In this lesson we'll focus on phrasing - very important thing, which gives flavour to our playing.

To build phrases we are going to use: vibrato, glissando, arpeggios, full and micro bends, dynamic picking. Remember to breath between phrases.

I used mostly Bb major scale, blues pentatonic scale and some major arpeggios.

    chord progression:
    Cm7, D7, Gm7, Fm7, Ebmaj7, Dm7, (Dbm7), Cm7, D7#9, D7b9, Gm9

I used the POD xt live preset called Gypsy Jazz.

The lesson is available in the guitar pro 5 file, mp3 backing tracks included.

    I hope you like it!

    Piotr
