Hi Farine! This is getting better! Have you tried the tips that I've shared?

You still need to practice to make this sound tighter but the good news are that you are on the right track with the practice. Remember that it's always more helpful to practice every day, at least 5/50 minutes, so if you find this time maybe before going to sleep, your playing will keep improving.

Keep on the good job!

Hi mate, these takes are not right. You are playing 16th notes in the part that you should be playing triplets. Please re-check the assignment's tasks and let me know if you need any help.

Hi Phil, this is on the right track but still has room to make those 8th notes tighter. Sometimes the pair of 8th notes is not totally regular so keep on practicing with all your focus on it.

Hi Daeron, now we are talking!! Good job, the patterns are well played now and most of the parts sound tight over the backing track. You are now ready to try faster tempo and give a try to the following assignment.

----------------------------------

ASSIGNMENT VI

Hello guys! On this new assignment we will continue exploring patterns that based on 16th notes (and some combinations), but this time we have more difficulties:

- You won't stay on the same note, these are phrases.
- We have a new pattern to learn:

Attached Image

As you can see, there is a dot just after each 8th note, so you have to learn what it means:

"Dotted Notes

A dotted note is a second way to modify note duration. Very simply, placing a dot, or period after any note makes it half as long again. So, a quarter note with a dot after it lasts for 3/8ths of a note (this is where you start to actually use the fractions you learnt at school!), because 1/8 is half of 1/4 (the original note length), and:

1/4 + 1/8 = 3/8

Written down, it looks like this:
Attached Image"
from Andrew Cockburn's theory articles. Link HERE.

And you can hear it here: Attached File  new_pattern.gp5 ( 1.46K ) Number of downloads: 76

Once you get comfortable with this new pattern, the lesson to work is this one: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Rhythm-Figures-Workout/

Please start slowly using metronome, and the slower backing tracks, and share audios here every time you want some feedback.

Who is in?

Hi Gab,

Im in.
The suggested lesson https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Rhythm-Figures-Workout/
doesnt seem that difficult, everything starts on the beat.

I have been working on your lesson https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Iron-M...-For-Beginners/ but for me the timing there is difficult, mostly not starting on the beat. I know the theory, I broke down all the notes to 16th grid so I know where they start using the 1-e-&-a pattern but at the original speed that doesnt seem to be possible to use.

Attached Image

Do you have any suggestion?

Petr

Hi mate, do you mean that you are experimenting problems with this riff?

Attached Image

The pattern starts with the beat but then it has an upbeat feel. Is the upbeat the thing that is giving your problems? Have your practiced upbeat 8th notes over a metronome?
