It's amazing how a human can achieve such a task when he intends to. : )

It's a great skill to be able to control your hands even at speeds that high,
but on the other hand that's not musical at all. (my opinion)
After around 600bpm the piece loses it's musical value/melody.
It starts to sound like he's just sliding on the strings.

I mean, it's a skill to brag about, but you can't perform
that on stage, where real music is being played.

But once again - that's only my view.

WOW! I agree with Quantam about not sounding too musical at that speed. But wow, playing anything that fast with tight timing is INSANE! Almost expected to see smoke start rolling off the fretboard. laugh.gif

I would argue that he actually is pretty musical - even at that speed.
The piece, which isn't all that 'musical' anyway, is meant to be played as fast as possible and there have always been instrumentalists competing for speed with 'Flight'. Check out Rafael Mendez on trumpet in 1956 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNnoTqvmdM4 not at 999 but pretty darn quick.

999 dude only has 1 bar of count off every time and sticks the ending EVERY time.

anyone slowed it down to see if he misses any notes?

I certainly wouldn't want to make the sacrifices it takes to get to get to that speed

999 bpm? Why haven't he tried 1666 bpm in a milisecond.

Congrats to the guy and all smile.gif I wish the recording and palm muting were a tad better so we could distinct notes at speed a tad more. Once he speeds up it sounds sorta "slidey" and blurry IMHO. I"m sure he practiced his can off and I don't want to take away from that.

There is another vid of a guy playing the same diddy where you can actually hear each pick strike and I gotta say it struck me as truly impressive. The player is DELLA VEGA.

SKIP TO 5:09 for crazy fast picking bits smile.gif

This is truly impressive! I like how he plays it with ease even though the speed is crazy.
I wonder how fast can we get theoretically before our human limitations start to kick in? smile.gif

wouuu is this true??? This makes some of the things that I'm practising now seem easier... laugh.gif
Besides the discussion about musicality or not, I can say that this is VERY impressive and inspiring.
