WOW! You guys have some really good takes! It's an honor to be a part of this with you all - hopefully I can melt some faces one day, as well!
As I was telling Cosmin in my mentoring thread, work has been killing me these past two weeks and I was really focusing on getting the speed picking passage at the end nice and polished but it just wasn't turning out well - I think the tempo is a bit beyond my level at the moment. So I simplified it down and this is my final take (PS I'm not really sure how to get the file size down without losing video quality. I record from my Iphone but the file size ends up to be 75MB! So I made the resolution really small and compressed it when I converted it from .wmv to .mp4): Video: DynamiteFinal__1_.mp4 ( 4.81MB ) Number of downloads: 87 With backing: DynamiteFinal.mp3 ( 407.35K ) Number of downloads: 99 Without backing: DynamiteFinal.wav ( 4.62MB ) Number of downloads: 63 |

I think this take is good and we can use it Thank you for the files and for being on time! As I said, you chose right and wise to replace that passage, so that you could bring in some steady playing and finish on time! Hey gal and guys you rock! Here's my take now. I still have a day to refine it and make a video. Hey mate! The riff double stop ideas sound steady and defined, but the lick at the end could use a bit more work on the timing and the bent note pitches - please isolate that last part and work on it at a slower tempo with a metronome in order to bring it up to a better shape and then re-implement it in the final take. Looking forward to receive your files Gentlemen! This is the last day on which you can submit your takes for this one, so please send me the video, solo and backing+solo files as soon as possible! Thank you! This post has been edited by Cosmin Lupu: Dec 5 2014, 09:11 AM |

Everything sounds good on your take. Then, you have time to keep on working on those tricky licks. I'm sure that Cosmin will give the the appropriated tips and exercises to master that stuff. Hey gal and guys you rock! Here's my take now. I still have a day to refine it and make a video. I just commented this one at Gab's Army! Thanks for your take. Please share here the final video and audio later today. my video hehe great attitude Gill! Thanks for your take friend. Howdy folks! The final mix is here!!!
I want to tahnk you for participating and as the tradition goes, we have compiled comments for each of you guys, in respect to your full takes, so that you may be able to push forward with your development! Chris S Hello Chris! I like how you built up your take - a repetitive theme that resolves itself towards the end. Having a short take is very good, if it's focused and it has a good direction, which it has Now, timing in phrasing, articulation and direction development, would be the things that you need to work on. Articulation is already in the works, while the others can be clearly taken care of, if you practice phrasing based lessons here on GMC One which would be a great starting point would be this one: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/dorian...asing_beginner/ - simple enough to execute, though very coherent Keep rocking mate! Bleez Howdy Scott - the pentatonic man Kidding aside, you will gain very much confidence and mastery over this scale in time, due to the heavy usage - that is a good thing! I like the balanced, yet dynamic and energetic, no 'BS' approach - good articulation, nice classic pentatonic licks and great timing. The Wah Wah adds a plus I would be very curious to see how you fare with a pentatonic lesson that is a bit more challenging - it'll surely build up your vocabulary for certain! https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Whitesnake-Blues-Solo/ - what do you think? Lexman Hey hey Mate, thumbs up for involving some very interesting notes - 0:13, and from 0:19 onwards They sound pretty different then what everyone tried, which makes your take stand out. Articulation sounds pretty good, timing as well, but I would focus a bit more on direction. It sometimes feels like you end a phrase and don't really know where to get from that point on That's why I thought I might suggest you to tackle some lessons which deal with phrasing so that you might hone your direction skills with them This might be a great place to start from: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Melodic-Yoppe/ What do you think? Gill Hey Gill! I think your take is very rock'n'roll - just as you are - a true Gibson fan I must say that timing and direction are good but the articulation can definitely be improved, as sometimes, the playing sounds a bit rigid. Due tothat, I thought I might suggest you to tackle a Ben Higgins classic lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey-5/ which will definitely work things out for your articulation skills development! Deal? Huargo: Hi mate! You are the only brave GMCer who decided to solo over the locrian backing! Everybody got scared from it! You did a killer job! The whole solo is brilliant. The first thing I can say is that you tone is very smooth, warm and connects perfectly with the backing’s style. That’s a very good first step! The structure of your solo is very clear and funny to hear. Even with a very static and weird backing, your solo keeps my attraction and makes me want to listen it again. This is achieved thanks to a balanced use of techniques, phrasing & speed. The variety of notes lengths and rhythms is top level. And talking about your technique, there is nothing else to say than that you ROCK! Your technique is very tight on this one and I just have to mark that the faster alternate picking section has a little sync issue between 00:18 and 00:22, but nothing very serious. The overall is fantastic! Thanks for rocking this collab! Kiendop: Nice to have a lady at this one! Thanks a lot for taking the time to record a solo for this collab. Your take sounds tasty; you have a good sense of melody and a tight timing. This take also shows that there are still many things to work but the good thing is that you adequate your solo to your current technique instead of trying to play things that you cannot play. This means that your mind is being kind with your fingers, and that your ear is good and giving the right info to your mind. I know that you are doing a very good job with Cosmin at his mentoring program but I would like to just make a list of the things that you need to have in mind for the future months of practice. - Work on vibrato. This technique needs to be trained every day to be able to play it wider and more connected with the backing’s groove. - Bending: This technique is not so bad but you should incorporate some bending practice to get more comfortable with it and expand your playing with different uses and types of bends. - Keep on experimenting with phrasing! I note that there is a dialogue between phrases happening on your solo, keep on exploring on that direction! - More Rhythm variation on your soloing. Your tone is ok but in order to make it more connected with the backing and other takes I decided to add an overdrive to your tone on the collab’s mix. I hope that you like it. Thanks again for joining! Rhida: Hey rocker worker!! We have been working on this solo at Gab’s Army so you have all my thoughts about the good and the weak things of this one. As you could see, I decided to not use the tricky licks for the final mix because they still need to be polished as discussed. My recommendation is that you use them as exercises and combine them with the alternate picking (outsides and insides from ITC) exercises that I gave to you. The first part with double string ideas sounds good. It has some little timing issues so please remember to pay more attention to it. Also, I think that it could sound even cooler if you play it with more aggression, if you experiment giving it more dynamics to make it even more expressive. Ok mate, we are working on all these things at my mentoring program so let’s continue there! Thanks a lot for joining, everyone and see you on the next one! |
