Today we are focusing on rock solo phrasing and typical rock guitar techniques like: whammy dives, pinch and tapped harmonics, palm mutting or wah modulations. There are many ways to play instrumental- rock music, this time we won't play fast, the most important thing in this lesson will be melody.
I used two keys in this solo: Bm and D, but scales are the same - B minor scale.
In the last part I used wah pedal and this part reminds me of Joe Satriani's "Crystal Planet" album.
We are going to use:
- whammy bar,
- vibrato,
- bending
- pinch and tapped harmonics
- wah pedal
This is the preset I used for the POD XT live for this lesson:
Amp: MS 2002 Mississippi Criminal, Drive 7 - Bass 6 - Middle 5 - Treble 7 - Presence 8
Cab: 4x12 1968 Green 25s
Dly: Delay Time - 170 (half note) - Mix 25%
Rev: Cavernous - Mix 26%
