this is actually a song I've written with my band ARIA and you can listen to it on our FB page. I think that if you present concepts in the form of songs you usually help people realize the true potential of what they can learn and thus get them motivated to work harder so that in turn, they may write their music when the time comes

Hello GMC'ers!
Today's lesson is meant to open a little window in the world of Katatonia - a very dark and atmospheric metal band from Sweden!
They are using interesting riffs, formulas and melodies, creating a dark somber sound yet fresh and modern - check out 'The great cold distance' by far, my favorite album from them.
You shall be able to:
- develop your right hand - riffing and alternate picking
- develop your rhythmic sense
This lesson is based on a song called 'Walking in the dark' which I wrote with my band ARIA, being inspired by the crazy duo - Katatonia and the great Bach.
Tuning: Drop A (A E A D F# B)
Meter: 4/4 and 6/8
Scales: A minor
Tone settings:
Riff - Bass – 10 o’clock, Mids – 7 o’clock, Highs – 1 o’clock, Gain – 1 o’clock, using the lead channel of my AMT ss20 Pre-amp, bridge position on the MMM Ibanez Mike Mushok baritone.
Clean strumming - Bass – 10 o’clock, Mids – 9 o’clock, Highs – 1 o’clock, Gain – 12 o’clock, using the clean channel of my AMT ss20 Pre-amp, software added reverb and keeping my MMM Ibanez Mike Mushok baritone's pick-up switch in the middle position.
