  • Hi and welcome to my new lesson. This time we have a beginner solo in the style of Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine.

David Scott "Dave" Mustaine (born September 13, 1961) is an American musician. He is best known as the co-founder, guitarist, and lead singer of the American thrash metal band Megadeth, and well known as the original lead guitarist for the American heavy metal band Metallica - Wikipedia

This lesson introduces you to three key elements of Mustaine's playing, the ascending pentatonic picking lick, the chromatic passing tones and the bent notes that are picked whilst being released. These are all included at a manageable speed for you to get to grips with before you increase the tempo and start jamming along with your favourite thrash classics.

    Things you will work on:

    Alternate picking
    Bending
    Timing

Things you will want to focus on:

    Preventing unwanted string noise
    Bending in tune
Making sure both hands are synchronised

So, if aggressive metal solos are your thing then you need this lesson!
