Welcome to my new lesson. This time the focus is on Randy Rhoads. I've created a beginner solo for you so that you can immerse yourself in Randy's sound NOW without having to wait until you've gained a certain amount of technical proficiency. One of the most important things when we're learning is feeling inspired so why can't we play like our influences while we're in the early stages of learning? I say that you can!
You will learn some very basic two handed tapping along with some simple phrases that use bending and vibrato. You will also get to play some triads, similar to the shapes heard in songs like Mr Crowley.
As always, focus on memorising all the phrases first before trying to play it all through together. Isolate any problem areas and focus on them until you feel confident enough to move forward. Once you can play through the piece, focus on getting the timing as tight as possible and try to keep good clarity with everything you play, including avoidance of unwanted string noises.
The main idea is to have fun whilst improving your technique! So, let's go over the mountain!
