  • Welcome to my new lesson!

We are looking at some runs in the playing style of Yngwie Malmsteen.

Yngwie is well known for his use of the Phrygian Dominant (also known as Phrygian Major) and Harmonic Minor Modes. In this lesson you will be focusing on the former scale mainly, although the latter half of the lesson gives you a look at the E Harmonic Minor, albeit in the form of B Phrygian Dominant.

There is plenty of fast picking and some brief examples of economy picking to get you closer to the type of things Yngwie does.

    This lesson will work on:

    - Modal knowledge
    - Alternate Picking
    - Economy Picking
    - Speed / Stamina

Grab that scalloped Strat, whip out your leather trousers and let's pretend the 90's never happened!
