Nickelback
Nickelback is a Rock band that comes from Hanna (Alberta/Canada) and exists since 1995. It consists of the halfbrothers Mike (bassguitar) and Chad. (guitar/vocals) Kroeger, Ryan Peake (guitar/vocals) and Daniel Adair (drums).

Nirvana
Nirvana were founded in 1987 by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic. They got to know each other during school in 1984 and especially due to the fact they were both huge fans and supporters of another local band from their high school known as "The Melvins". In 1985 Kurt founded together with the later Melvins-Drummer Dale Croyer and himself as bassist the band „Fecal Matter“. Evergrey
The band released their first album "The Dark Discovery" in 1998, which in contrast to their later albums, deals with several themes such as paronoia, religion, suicide and child abuse. In 1999, the band released their second album "Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy", where they used several classical instruments, such as harps and violins. Their third album, "In Search of Truth", was released in 2001 and deals with alien abductions. Sepultura (portuguese for Grave) is a Brazilian Metal band that was formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte by the brothers Igor and Max Cavalera. Sepultura is the most successfull band from Brazil although they are a Thrash/Death Metal band that plays non-commercial music. The band was famous for their raw and simple music that is influenced by native brazilian music. In 1996 singer and guitarist Max Cavalera disbanded after an argument and started his own, successfull projects. Sepultura are loosing fans since this day. More...
Dragonforce
Band founders Sam Totman and Herman Li played in a Black Metal!!! band called Demoniac (Darkthrone style with Corpsepaint and Stagenames!) and recorded three albums with this band. Demoniac broke up in 1999 and every current member of Demoniac except for vocalist Lindsay Dawson joined Li's and Totman's Power Metal project DragonHeart. The bandname soon was changed into DragonForce because of an already existing Band from Brazil called Dragonheart. The first demo was recorded with the new vocalist ZP Theart and was published on Mp3.com, where the title track Valley of The Damned became the most played song in the genre of Heavy Metal. The Killers
Brandon Flowers was part of the band "Blush Response", but left it in 2001, refusing to move to California. Searching for a new band he came across an add in a local Las Vegas newspaper where David Keuning was looking for members to form a band in the style of "The Cure", "Oasis" and "The Smiths", so they met and decided to start "The Killers", recruiting drummer Ronnie Vannucci and bassist Mark Stoermer. The name of the band comes after a fiction band that features in a New Order video called "Crystal", and years later when The Killers became famous they actually got to play live that song along with New Order. Blind Guardian
The band was formed by the school friends Hansi Kürsch (vocals and bass) and André Olbrich (Lead Guitar) under the name Lucifer's Heritage. The band recorded two demos as Lucifer's Heritage and underwent several lineup changes until the classic lineup with Marcus Siepen (guitar) and Thomas Strauch (drums) came together in 1987 and the band was renamed into Blind Guardian. Their debut record Battalions Of Fear was recorded in 1988 on the label No Remorse Records which was essentially a Spped Metal record. For the tour to their second record Follow The Blind Blind Guardian let the newcomer band Iced Earth join as their opening act. Blind Guardian and Helloween, another German Power/speedmetal band were bonded closely by their style and personal friendship so that Kai Hansen from Helloween/Gamma Ray was featured on their third record Tales From The Twilight World, which was recorded in 1990. Machine Head
Robert Flynn left his former band Vio-Lence after a fight between the band members to form his own band in which he would not only play guitar but be the vocalist. Flynn founded the band Machine Head together with bassist Adam Duce and they are the only members of the original lineup on the present day. They hired lead guitarist Logan Mader and drummer Tony Constanza and started to write songs. With their first small gigs they became famous in the Bay Area underground scene and they decided to record a demo tape. The tape was recorded in a friends' bedroom with a total budget of 800$, consisting of six tracks. The demo was send to Roadrunner Records and they signed Machine Head in 1993. Drummer Tony Constanza left the band during the record of their debut and was replaced by Chris Kontos. Flyleaf
Flyleaf is a rock/alternative band that formed back in 2003 in Texas, USA. There are five members in the band, four guys and a frontwoman named Lacey Mosley. They have published just one album, named like the band, in 2005. Lacey is just 1,5 meters tall, but when she stands in the midle of the stage and the guitars fill the air, she begins to sing and people are usually amazed that such a small woman can have such a powerful, unique style. Her voice is the epicenter of Flyleaf, the soul of their songs. After the suicide of Kurt Cobain in and the splitting-up of Nirvana in 1995, David Grohl decided to come up with a new band. Because, still in the times of Nirvana, Grohl wrote his own songs, which weren't exploited in Nirvana, so, in Foo Fighters he utilized them (and kept writing songs for sure). Few months after Court Cobains death he recorded a demo tape all by his self (he played all instruments and sang, except some guitar parts) that was called „the Foo Fighters album“. Linkin Park
Mike Shinoda (guitar, keyboard & vocals) and Brad Delson (guitar) knew eachother since Highschool. The idea to found a band came by visiting a concert of the Metal-band Anthrax together with the hip-hop crew Public Enemy. So they took Rob Bourdon (drums), David Farell (bass). Because they needed an leadshouter, Mark Wakefield joined, but after having recorded a demo he left and today's leadshouter Chester Bennington came in. Greenday was founded in 1987 when the two friends Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt (both 14) decided to make a band named „Sweet Children“. They had their first gig on the 17th of October 1987 at Rod's Hickory Pit in Vallejo (California/USA). They had the possibilty to „perform“ there, because Armstrongs mother worked in this pub. Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam were a grunge band that formed in 1990 in Seattle. The band came from the death of the band Mother Love Bone that tragically ended after the lead singer Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose in 1990. Unlike Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone were a hard rock band inspired by the powerful vocals of bands like Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin. After the devastation of losing their lead singer, Stone Gossard (Guitar) and Jeff Ament (Bass) decided to create a new band. Opeth is a Metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. The music is a mixture of Melodic Death Metal, Progresseive Metal and Progressive Rock. Arch Enemy is a Metal band from Sweden that was formed by brothers Michael and Christopher Amott and bassist/singer John Liiva in 1996. With both Michael Amott and John Liiva coming from successfull Death Metal bands they attempted to go a more melodic way with Arch Enemy. The most remarkable thing about Arch Enemy is the female vocalist Angela Gossow because female gutural growling singers are rarely seen.
Black Label Society
Black Label Society is an American Heavy Metal band formed in 1998 by Ozzy Osbourne's Legendary Guitarist Zakk Wylde. The band plays a mixture of very rude Southern Rock and Heavy Metal with simple riffs and incredible solos, but they are also capable of beautiful ballads with accoustic guitars and piano. AC/DC is a rock band formed in Sydney, Australia by Angus and Malcolm Young in 1973. AC/DC are considered pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal they consider themselves rock n roll.
AC/DC got their name from their sister Margret's sewing machine. "AC/DC" is an abbreviation for "alternating current/direct current", which indicates that an electrical device can use either type of power. Metallica was officially founded on the 28th of October 1981 in Los Angeles,California by rythm-guitarist and and singer James Hetfield and drummer and former tennis-pro Lars Ulrich. The name Metallica was meant to be the name of an underground Metal-Fan-Magazine but was stolen by Lars Ulrich to use it as the name for his band. The first Demo record, including coversongs and the first Metallica song Hit the lights was entirely recorded by James and Lars.
