  • Hi GMCers! Welcome to another blues lesson of mine. Here we will do a blues solo, that I called "Angry Blues", because it is played with an aggressive attitude, involving lots of vibratos, bends, double stops, and faster passages.

    Techniques that we will cover in this lesson are:

    - Alternate Picking
    - Economy Picking
    - Legato
    - Bending
    - Vibrato
    - Double Stops
    - Raking

    For this lesson we will use standard 110 bpm tempo, 12-bar blues progression in the key of A major:


    A - A - A - A
    D - D - A - A
    E - D - A - E

    Tuning:
    *Standard E
    * E - A - D - G - B - E
    (From thick to thin)

    Equipment & Tone Settings:
    * Gibson SG Raw Power, Neck Position (first part), Bridge Position (second part)
    * Focusrite OctoPre MKII preamp/converter into E-MU 1212m audio system
    * Amplitube 3 (Compressor, Tubescreamer, Mark I, moderate drive settings, Delay, Reverb)
