  • The "California Country" lesson covers a piece inspired by sounds from the 90s. While country at heart there is also a clear influence of rockabilly and surf. This lesson is sort of a Dwight Yoakam meets Chris Isaak idea. Think "Thousand Miles from Nowhere" meets "Wicked Game." The tone is specifically a strat style guitar in an out of phase pickup position (2 or 4) . I think the one closest to the bridge gives the most accurate tone as it needs to gave good high end attack with a glassy quality. Also the whammy bar is utilized to give a nice vibrato. A good amount of reverb and delay helps as well.
