Hey,welcome to GMC and thanks for you kind comment, appreciate it!!
Nice nickname tho, there is one Whitesnake tune I like a lot
and it goes like: I'm a Hoochie Coochie Man an I'm doing all I can..".
you never cease to amaze me,,your great at blues tooo! you have great feel and emotion in every style you do..i wish i wasnt so old,,ive got so much to learn...you inspire me to all the time, every lesson you do is out of this world..(are you an alien maybe?) how many hours do you practise in a day?...im trying to get 2 hrs at minute when i can..thanks again
I'm very pleased to hear you like it!
As about practicing,I never actually counted how much am I practicing/playing,
few hours per day I would say, more or less.
Loved this lesson (again !! :-))
This is really a blues you can feel, love to play over it.
I wondered how to play the chords like
This is Amadd9
Thanks a million.
You're very welcome.
Great lesson Muris!
Don't want to bog you down in theory, but you're using some unusual chords I haven't come across before. Just wondered how they fit in with A minor, an dhow the 'extra' notes from the chords 'work' with the melody. Perhaps it's just a 'nice' chord progression that you picked a few notes out of to create the melody...?
This will keep me going for a while...!
Sorry Muris, I left off my 'for example'!
For example, how does the 'C' (2nd string 13 fret, Bar 1), fit in with the E7+9? When I see a note in the melody that's not in the accompanying chord, it throws me. I know E7+9 is E-G#-B-D-G, and you're not playing the 5th, but what's the reason for the C? It shouldn't fit, but it does!! Help!!
7+9 type of chord is very often in blues progression,
specially in minor keys as 5th degree chord or dominant chord.
Note C isn't involved in this chord as you have noticed
but blues players don't follow progression all the time
as jazz players do per example, note C in just a note
from Am pentatonic scale, they do pentatonic a lot.
On the other hand you can look at this C note as B#
and then you get kind of +5 feel, sweet jazzy sounding note.
I try these chords out!
I think I'll learn the track and worry about the theory later. I guess the rule of thumb is to be aware of the theory, but don't let it get in the way! I suppose if a note sounds good, it doesn't really matter if it's in the scale or not!
Can I just ask....I'm not sure what you mean by +5. As the key is Amin, would 'C' (or B#), not be the minor 3rd (or augmented 2nd)? I assume +5 is augmented 5th, which should be E# (or F).
ps sorry if I'm being a bit dim...!
I was talking about E aug or E+5, not A aug,
5th is B and +5 is B# or C.
I said 5th degree in key,
this is Am key and 5th degree is E.
Thanks for clearing that up Muris - time to practice I think!
You've got it!
Please.. what is the song and album? I want to listen too? Just beautiful!
