Question: the first run of triplets beginning at fret 19, well my guitar, an SG Epiphone, doesn't allow easy access down there. Is there anyplace else I could play a similar run? Thanks!

It happens very fast. It's more of a passing chord. I'm playing a C note as the 4th, which is an augmented 4th.. Can you hear it? :-)

In today's lesson, we'll study a melodic instrumental piece based in the style of John Petrucci.
I recorded my interpretation of one of John's songs called Wishful Thinking which can be found on his solo album.
The key is in F# Major with a slight modulation in F# Lydian. Memorize the scales and the chord progression, then try to come up with your own themes and leads.
As always, try to use what you have learned here in your own music.
