Biography
Born in Belfast, Northern Irelenad 1962 on August 25th full name : Vivian Partick Campbell Biggest influence , Gary Moore, Vivian`s style in early years reflects that of Garys in many ways, lightening speed with pinpoint accuracy.
Joined his first band in 1978 at the age of 16, "Sweet Savage" , he was to tour as a support act with Thin Lizzy and Motorhead, whilst on tour he had attracted some attention from bass player Jimmy Bain who was forming a band with rock legend singer Ronnie James Dio & drummer Vinnie Appice. Dio required a power metal guitarist, and Vivian at the age of 19 was asked to audition.
Dio
With Vivian enlisted the line up was now complete, this line up would record three albums Holy Diver, The Last in Line&Sacred Heart. In 1986 creative differences forced Vivian to leave Dio.
Whitesnake
In 1987 Vivian was asked to join Whitesnake fronted by the silky deep voiced David Coverdale, his stint with Whitesnake was short lived, after one tour he left whitesnake late in 1988 to seek a less hard rock, more bluesy venture.
Riverdogs
Another short lived venture, Vivian was asked to produce the groups first demo, he was so impressed with te group that he in fact joined them on their first album, lack of support from the record label forced the group to go their seperate ways.
Break & songwriting
After leaving the Riverdogs Vivian took a break from touring and began writing songs for his solo project
Def Leppard
1991 and Vivian was just about to enter the studio to begin work on demos for his album when Joe Elliot frontman of Def Leppard gave him a call, Def Leppards guitarist Steve Clark had tragically died and Vivian was asked to take the spot, having been a fan of the Band a chance to join such a huge group couldnt be missed, Vivian still plays for Def Leppard to date.
Solo Album
For 20 years Vivian has yearned to create an album of his own work, it is now released called "the Two Sides of IF"
