Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.
The principles of our Army are:
+ Improve your technique + Make music and solos + Have fun + Destroy the enemy (hahaha not really just kidding... )

Now... I'm in METAL....
All the day listening to iron maiden, sylosis, anthrax,death... my wife and my daughters are praying for a new twist in my musical taste... maybe world music they suggest...
ok i wanna play better that's all.... GMG is a funny way for doing that because the short lessons 1m or less are fine for me and ok sounds amazing!!!

Hi mate! Nice videos! I can notice things to improve in both techniques (rhythm and soloing). These are my suggestions based on what I could see:
- Practice the rhythm lessons using the slower backing tracks, concentrating on playing them tight, and getting the correct sound of palm muting when it must be used. The only way to adjust this is slowing it down and practising. - Choosing some easier/slower rhythm metal lessons for practising. - The solo lesson sounds good and there are a few details that could sound better. One important are those fast trills that sound a bit muted. So working on a trills lesson could be a good idea. - We can go for another solo lesson - Nice guitar!

Ok i'm agree in your suggestions i was working on that.... The point is with the fast trills, im making a hard work at low speed but my arms explode at full speed.... I ned rest when i'm practicing that at full speed The guitar have the truss Rod broken, it can't be ajusted...... the action its very slow, now too mach for my taste and the high notes, dont have a long sustain.... Im sailing and amp to buy a new guitar....
Ok ! Im open to any suggestion of new lesson! Rithym, soloing... Thanks
i fixed that in my file... for me it's not a problem now..

Hey mate! You are doing a great job with this one! I can notice that your right hand still needs some training to keep the timing at this tempo when you are playing only downstrokes, but the overall take sounds very good. Congrats! Keep on practising this one every day as an endurance training.

Thanks gab, one cuestion: it's better reduce the bpm to work accurate or full speed for endurance? I think my big problem it's maintain the fast tempo, stamina...... Any advice

You always have to practice at a tempo that you can make the idea sound good. You just can go faster (5 or 10 bpms) for some minutes to then get back to thee previous tempo and feel more comfortable. But be sure of never practice something bad played over metronome for more than a minute. The only thing that you can get is to be able to play that thing, bad played, at a faster tempo. Is it clear?
this week I'm thinking in a solo lesson with legato and bends, any suggestion?.... i'm working too in bens of legato series and in my rhythm songs....
thanks

Hi mate! Congrats! You are doing a very good job on this lessons. There is still room to improve this lessons mostly the timing but it's just a matter of more days practicing them. The rhythm lesson has some sync issues between both hands, mostly in the faster parts, so maybe you could isolate those sections and practice them as a loop. There is nothing to fix about technique, just keep on working hard.
Here you have some suggestions for practicing bending and legato:
i really like the way he uses legato... very expresive not a trick to go faster.
i try the max sokolov lesson. thanks gab

hi Gabriel! thanks lot of work here.. you put an alternate picking lesson in the tapping hour?...
hi Gabriel! thanks lot of work here.. you put an alternate picking lesson in the tapping hour?...
no, there are 2 Sweep Picking lessons and one that includes Hybrid picking. The second Sweep Picking lesson is combine with AP, so it's a combination of techniques.
Hi Gab i post you some videos and lessons of my routine, and comments too.
First time i use a routine and it's strange to change and exercise to another... but i like it... 0-warm up,picking chords 100 bpm (Starts to sound) 1-muris stamina 80 bpm (sounds clean and nice at this speed, I can go faster but starts to sound blurry goin from the low string to the high in sextuplets.... 2- alternate picking darius150bpm...(sounds good to me, some parts working in cycle at 140bpm to have more consistency...but sounds god in one take) 3- killer pentatonics 110 bpm(sounds good and clear at this speed.. i need more time to gain more consistency in some parts until go more fast) 4- legato ian bushell (start to work at full speed 160 bpm i post a mp3...) 5-janes 120 bpm Full 6-avs 130 bpm (solo sounds blury at this speed... if i have time this week end post a video...) 7-Bending balad full speed( still killing cats... i post a video, needs more flow to me) 8-jimmy hendryx full speed(i post a video. Not exactly the notes but i feel good with this, i made better takes than this) 9-sweep 100 bpm ( excelent lesson from muris! i can go faster soon the 4 strings sweeps are new for my i usually uses 3 or 5 strings....) 11-alterna sweep 100 ( needs work, start to sound but sometimes i miss parts...) 12- kotzen 70 ( the last... needs more work, i'm working in diferents shapes and soon can make all at time)
Hi mate! Amazing post! It's great to see you working like this. Please keep going in this way and the results in some month will be VERY notorious. Thanks for the specific info about each lesson, it's good to have this here to compare your progress in the near future. I think that your playing on both videos is very good. There is still some room to give more feeling to your playing and to make every bend sound on pitch (there are some ones that aren't). The legato stamina sounds great, and it just has some timing issues near the end.
Regarding your suggestions, I think that we can add them to the current routine. You can play less time the lessons that you already mastered and that has just details so improve and concentrate on the new ones. I'll add the lessons right now.
Keep on working hard and keep me updated!
PS: New lessons added!

Hi! Thanks for the update! I think that you took a great decision on organizing the routine and giving priority to some lessons over other ones. It's ok to organize your time, there is not hurry to learn everything the first week. This quantity of lessons are good for a 2 months guitar plan so feel free to organize it as you prefer it.
The Accept lesson sounds very good, it just has some timing issues starting at 00:45 so pay attention to it.
Regarding my Venom lesson, let's go for it!!

Hi Gab. my report of the rutine. No big news. Lessons are growing in fast and accuracy. Something is changing in my way of pick... it's not done yet but sometimes when i found the right way to hold the pick and make circles ... it's like flying... i think i'm very close to a big step forward i need more time to make it natural. My bends are better but we have to work more to really keep in pitch. No videos or music this week , but you can check my entry for the less is more competition
I'm planing to post some rec takes soon if you are agree... i think i can master some lessons and change for anothers... i don't know maybe just for record and work in my tone or just for fun. This days it will be difficult to post videos because we are on holidays but i'll work in my rutine.
Happy holidays!!!

This is amazing stuff mate. Thanks a lot for the reports. It's cool to know that you can notice that your playing is becoming better and better! There is no secret, if you practice diary the right things you will become better. So the main thing here is to keep motivated.
Your take for "less is more" collab is really good. I like your energy there, it sounds very professional and makes me thing that you should start writing your own music! I like the fact that your solos sounds double, it gives more energy, and also your tone is killer. Congrats!

Hi Gab. First thanks for you support and your guidelines to improve my guitar playing. The routine was a success !!! Some things changed in my life. I start a job. I was in a kind of test for one month, and i had a week free. I collab in a lot of things here in gmc for that week, really enjoyed... but now i start the real job... I need your help to make a ONE HOUR routine to fight against random play... i make random play for several years and I do not want to fall into the same mistakes.... Need improve my alternative picking, sweep, vibrato, bends, tap.... you know that kind of technical things. In the weekend i can extend the routine to 3h i think.. but not always...
thanks for your work!!

Hi mate! Ok! Let's start designing a new routine.
Warming Up
Alternate Picking
Sweep Picking
Bending & Vibrato
Tapping
For one hour routines, I recommend to focalize on one technique over the other ones each day, and divide time close to this:
warming up: 5 minutes
"technique of the day": 25 minutes
"other techniques: 10 minutes each one.
Does it make sense?
Do you have some lessons to suggest for the plan?
Huargo
Feb 4 2014, 08:17 PM
Makes sense... it's better to jump between exercises?... maybe 2 or 3 times every one or better focalize in one exercise with each block?..... I put a lot of exercises, some old and news.. but you can tell me anothers.
one suggestion: make one exercise in style of TANO MARCIELLO jejeje i like "convide rutero" a lot.
And thanks as always!
Gabriel Leopardi
Feb 5 2014, 03:58 AM
Wou! That's a big list! Let's focus on 1 new lesson per technique each week, unless you learn it in less time. I prefer to focus on a few lesson than cover many at the same time while you are learning the parts. Once you can play the whole lesson over one of the backing tracks, you can start learning a new lesson on the same topic. You have to be patient and focus to avoid the random playing.
